RE: Winnebago Adventurer opinions.

My 2000 Adventurer has been great -- drove 12,000 roundtrip from NC to Alaska and did not have a single problem.
I love the basement air -- it makes the coach so much quieter and evenly cools. I am a fan of Winnebagos and will be trading for a Journey 2007 in the next couple of weeks. Now that I am retired -- I can better justify the DP.
I do not think you can go wrong with a Winnebago. Just my opinion.

RE: I'm I wrong?

I turn the heat on until I have the unit winterized. After the unit is winterized, I do not use the heat.
In NC, we can usually wait until the first of January to have our units winterized.

There is also a show in Raleigh Feb. 8-10 at the State Fairgrounds-- in case your ship comes in.

RE: Winnebago Tour RV

We have an Adventurer -2000 with the basement air -- we have really enjoyed it -- cools evenly and is a lot quieter than a roof air.

RE: Alaska Trip with a Dog

We did the Alaska Marine Hwy in 2005 with two Jack Russells. They were not thrilled with having to go potty on cement but they adjusted.
We also went to Denali--but our traveling buddies took the dogs out for us.
We travelled 12,000 miles and did not have any problems having the dogs with us.

RE: campground near Durham NC

State Parks --Jordan Lake or Falls Lake
The only problem is some of the parks close for the winter and the gates close at 6pm.
Also there is camping at the State Fairgrounds which is not too far from Durham.

RE: Natchez Trail

Very nice drive -- the speed limit is 50mph -- not commercial -- very similar to the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are a couple of campgrounds on the Trace but there are also some nice parks just off the Trace.
We drove it last April -- really enjoyed it.
